Life is not going to be easy for Do-hyun, because he can’t simply hide his different personalities from the people around him. They will eventually catch up with all the strange things happening around him, but that is not the only problem. He also has to deal with a dominant alter, who dreams of becoming the owner of his body. One thing to be thankful is that his alters are still normal human beings. It can be worse, for instance having another personality as a fairy.
[Episode 3]
Do-hyun got punched by Secretary Ahn for the sake of ‘summoning’ Se-gi out, but we got to meet another side of Do-hyun: the one with the name Ferry Park. While Secretary Ahn was trying to persuade him into going to the planned meeting at the company, Ferry (this is so awkward, writing it as someone’s name) made it his top priority to change into a Hawaiian shirt and seizing the chance to do his own things, since he didn’t even know when he would come out again. Secretary Ahn made an offer to buy a boat for him, and the sea lover Ferry grew excited, picturing the image of having a boat with his name. Hahaha! It didn’t take long for him to change his mind, to the secretary’s relief, but a phone call interrupted them.
Jacket Man was getting impatient and made a call to Do-hyun’s phone again, threatening the clueless Ferry who answered the call. Ri-jin tried to explain that the jacket was in her possession and not with Se-gi, but her words only came out as endless grunts, so Jacket Man added more tape on her mouth to shut her up. Heh. Ferry was not going to follow the instruction to bring the jacket, but he changed his mind after finding out that a lady’s life was on the line. Meanwhile, the board members, including Chairman Seo, were already gathered in the meeting room.
As the Jacket Man’s lackeys were practicing their attacks on Se-gi (no seriously, they’re really practicing all their moves!), Ferry made his entrance with a pair of bombs in his hands, as Secretary Ahn went to the meeting first, informing Chairman Seo about Do-hyun encountering some problems on his way there. Chairman Seo announced that Do-hyun was involved in a minor car accident and would join them later. The man is actually threatening Jacket Man with the bombs and got carried away describing himself to notice one of the lackeys approaching him, but he was lucky not to get hit. It’s a different case for the bombs, which fell onto the floor and caused everyone to duck and hide….but they did not explode. Oops. Poor Ferry, he ended up getting beaten to a pulp!
Still, Do-hyun had prepared for the worst and one of them was to put a tracking device on himself. It was done in order for Secretary Ahn to locate him, should anything happen when he transformed into one of his alters. But then, those men thought that the tracking device was for the police to trace them and took the passed out Ferry and Ri-jin away before Secretary Ahn arrived at the warehouse. Jacket Man thought that it was an act by Ferry to but some time for the police and another lackey thought that Ferry might had taken the drug, judging from his different eyes compared to Se-gi on that night. A text arrived on Ri-jin’s phone (she’s using Gil Ra-im’s ringtone!) and made Jacket Man asked her angrily about it. Why?
Because the text was actually a photo of Ri-on, now wearing the leather jacket and showing it off to Ri-jin. HAHAHAHA! They finally let Ri-jin talk and she blamed them for not listening to her sooner, but they’re only interested in retrieving the jacket. They called Ri-on to know where he was at that moment (at home, since he’s throwing a ‘corporate lunch’ for the people who helped him in writing his novel) and Ri-jin remembered something. She started praising his novel, stating a chapter of her favourite, with the hope that her brother would notice that she’s in danger, but he thought that she was just trying to avoid paying her debts. What a time to be dense!
Jacket Man left for Ri-on together with his minions except for one of them to watch over Ri-jin and Ferry, but he accidentally activated one of the bombs. Ack! Ferry stirred awake but started to undergo another transformation, while Ri-jin realized that the man in front of her had different eyes, ways of speaking, and personalities each time he met her. I was hoping for Se-gi to come out since he had been beaten, but alas, Do-hyun regained control of his body and realized that Ferry was the one who appeared before. He was so relieved that Ri-jin was not hurt and told her that he was drunk before coming there.
Do-hyun was worried and started scolding Ri-jin for telling those men about her brother’s location, but he soon thought that it was just her reaction since he was still thinking of Ri-jin as a megalomaniac. He started apologizing and Ri-jin grew frustrated because he kept saying that she was sick. Hahaha! Do-hyun had freed himself from the binding ropes in the middle of their conversation (because he learned the art of escaping from such threats?) and helped to untie Ri-jin, but she suddenly repeated what Se-gi said to her before, about not forgetting his eyes. They stared into each other’s eyes (while burning my screen, thank you) but Do-hyun broke the intense staring session, since their priority was to escape the place.
The guard lackey was lured into the room and Do-hyun knocked him down before escaping with Ri-jin. Although Ri-jin wanted to know his name once they were safe, Do-hyun couldn’t promise to do so, since he had to leave for somewhere. Aaaand the lackey got Ri-jin again as Ri-jin and Do-hyun tried to convince him that one of them had mental problems. So confusing! But then, the bomb started ticking and they realized that this time, it might be working. The lackey did not believe it at first but chose to save himself first. Do-hyun and Ri-jin managed to stumble out of the room before the bomb exploded. Run, run away…those were containers for chemicals and they might explode too!
Jacket Man and Co. arrived at Oh family’s residence and Ri-on was holding onto the jacket, but he ripped the inner lining to reveal packets of drugs hidden inside it. Well, those men who were having a lunch with him turned out to be police detectives and Jacket Men ended up being arrested. Good for them! Still, our couple was still in the place full of chemical containers and Do-hyun had to carry the barely unconscious Ri-jin. They barely escaped the exploding warehouse on a bike and Ri-jin, knowing that they’re safe, wrapped her arms tightly around Do-hyun.
Ri-jin: You…what’s your name? Don’t go…let’s play with me.
Excuse me while I collect myself.
They arrived at the hospital and Ri-jin heard the faint voice of Do-hyun, apologizing to her. Awwww Do-hyun, it wasn’t your fault! He felt guilty to brought the danger upon her and sincerely hoped that they won’t have any encounter which would lead to such thing in the future. She fell into unconsciousness again and woke up to an anxious Ri-on. He was so worried about her; however, Ri-jin was happy that he understood the reference she made to his novel regarding the situation before, hence he was prepared about the drugs. Yeay for the twins!
Ri-jin wondered where Do-hyun was, and the gentleman was on his way to the meeting despite having a deep cut on his arm. Ki-joon’s father started preaching about Do-hyun’s irresponsible self, making all the executives including the chairman to wait for him, but Do-hyun arrived right after that and apologized for being late due to an accident. He gave a confident speech in front of them and Ki-joon seemed to think that he was bluffing, but Ki-joon saw some blood trickling from Do-hyun’s hand.
Chairman Seo did not say anything in front of the board but when she’s alone with Do-hyun, she didn’t hesitate to give him a good slap for not being careful in front of the watchful eyes of the directors. She screamed at Do-hyun, reminding him that his father sacrificed himself to save him in the fire years ago and Do-hyun should protect the company until the day his father was able to sit on the Chairman’s seat. Yup, she’s one cold grandma. Madam Shin had found where the person she was looking for all this while, and it was no other than Do-hyun’s father, Cha Jun-pyo. He was still breathing but from the look of it, he was barely holding on to his life, bedridden and hooked to the ventilator.
Mama Ji prepared some food for Ri-jin and she was shocked to receive a call about her daughter earlier, but Ri-jin assured her that she was fine and grabbing the chance to get a good sleep as a patient. Ri-on was not going to carry all those food to Ri-jin because they were too many (“Why are you sending a food truck?”), but Daddy Oh asked for the leather jacket again and he did not have the heart to tell him the truth, so he ended up making the trip to the hospital, after almost being hit by Mama Ji’s food ladle.
Do-hyun treated his injury with the help of Secretary Ahn and asked about Ri-jin’s condition. He did not think that Ri-jin would blackmail him for money because of the incident and was more concerned about her mental state. Since he was afraid that he would only bring more danger to her, he requested for Secretary Ahn to apologize on his behalf and take care of her hospital bills. I don’t know whether to laugh or not at Secretary Ahn’s way of apologizing, because Ri-jin came back to her decorated (with heart-shaped balloons!), gifts-laden ward that night. She thought that Do-hyun (whose name she didn’t know yet at that moment!) was a gentleman, sending the gifts and wishing her speedy recovery, but Ri-on was behind her, wondering if she was dating someone.
Ri-jin dug in her meals, complete with a glass of beer, as Ri-on started to interrogate her about the guy who sent her all the gifts. He reminded her to be careful since the guy might be a player, but Ri-jin couldn’t stop thinking about the distinct personalities Do-hyun had: what if it was not him trying to separate his different lives? It would have been uneasy, dangerous, disturbing, or even lonely for him to deal with. When asked if she was interested in that gentleman, Ri-jin said that it was impossible as she won’t meet that person again, but he encounters with Do-hyun, Se-gi, and Ferry had stirred something in his heart.
Do-hyun was harassed by a nightmare of him apologizing before being hit by someone when he was young and jolted up awake in the middle of the night. The day changed and Ki-joon did not let his suspicion go just like that, ordering his secretary to find out Do-hyun’s record in any hospital. Do-hyun, on the other hand, went to a filming set and saw Chae-yeon but chose to ignore her. He couldn’t escape during the break as Chae-yeon confronted him about ignoring her, guessing that it was because of their difference in rank. She recited what he said to her before and threw another question at Do-hyun: have he ever crossed the line between them? She became curious about her own reaction, whether she would hit him like what he told her to do, or just gave in to him. Do-hyun put an end to the conversation, saying that he was someone she won’t be able to handle.
Dr. Seok wanted Do-hyun to start his treatment as soon as possible since they would never know what would happen next, after what Ferry had caused with his bombs. However, Secretary Ahn’s concern was more on keeping the treatment a secret and asked whether Dr. Seok had a doctor who could keep secrets well. Suddenly, Ri-jin dropped by the office, still wearing the hospital gown and saw Secretary Ahn. He recognized Ri-jin but she didn’t, because he arrived at the hospital to fetch Do-hyun when she was still unconscious. He was taken aback when Ri-jin was introduced as a psychiatrist under Dr. Seok.
Ri-jin went to meet Dr. Seok to ask his permission to return to her duties, but she was curious about Do-hyun and started to ask her professor about DID. Secretary Ahn reported about Ri-jin to Do-hyun, as Ri-jin began to describe the symptoms she observed in Do-hyun through her encounters with him. She ruled out BPD, HPD, and schizophrenia from her diagnosis due to the memory impairment Do-hyun experienced, and Dr. Seok was surprised when she mentioned Se-gi’s name. Do-hyun realized that Se-gi might had approached Ri-jin with the intention of getting rid of him. He thought that he should meet Ri-jin first and headed straight to the hospital.
Dr. Seok shared the history of his encounter with Do-hyun and his other personalities since the first time he met the 17-year-old Do-hyun. Nothing changed after seven years of treatment and Do-hyun was normal on the outside; but then, Do-hyun could not recall the memories between his seventh and eighth year, and Ri-jin suspected that the split personalities might be his way of coping and trying to hide the memories in order to protect himself. She found it unfortunate that his family, instead of helping him, became the reason for Do-hyun to turn out that way, and he had been facing it all by himself, fighting against himself for the past 11 years.
Ri-jin kept thinking about Do-hyun and realized how lucky she was to have a supportive family, and how hard it must had been for Do-hyun to be alone in his fight. She changed into her coat and saw Suk-hee, who was trying to escape the hospital again. She chased her and saved her from being hit by a coming car, with Do-hyun being the person behind the wheel. Suk-hee recognized him (“You’re the Paradise Club’s Prince!” Hehehe!) but she was soon dragged back into the hospital. Do-hyun stood in front of Ri-jin and said that she was really a doctor.
Ri-jin: You’re not Shin Se-gi.
Do-hyun: Did you see me changing? Aren’t you afraid of me?
Ri-jin: I don’t know you very well yet. Excuse me, but who are you? By any chance, do you bring any bomb? Or do you have any leather jacket? Then…what is your name?
Do-hyun: The ‘me’ with this face and these eyes is Cha Do-hyun.
[END of Episode 3]
AWWWWWWWWWHH!!! That was the best self introduction ever! I’m turning into a puddle of goo, really! Look at those two! OMG can I survive until the end of this series? This is too much for me…All the feels!
And they give me this preview…THIS! I don’t care if this will be Ri-jin’s imagination, I’m ready to bask in their happiness!
Ah, Do-hyun. Why do you have to be so perfect on the outside, only to be so sick inside? It’s amazing for him to endure such situation by himself for many years, and even living far from his home in that duration of time. Although I feel like telling him to give up on his dysfunctional family and live abroad for the rest of his life, he is someone who can’t do that, simply because he is so kind. Although Do-hyun, Se-gi, and Ferry have distinct personalities, they do share several similarities, like being a helpful man, because deep down, they’re still the same person. Even for the wild Se-gi, his tendency to use his fist in order to help people is, without doubt, a trait coming from the good-natured Do-hyun. Whoever made him like this needs a good payback! The father is suspicious to me for the time being, although Chairman Seo looks like she’s hiding something too..
I am excited for Do-hyun’s encounter with Oh Family, because I really want them to become some sort of a foster family to him. He definitely needs a good support from people close to him, and this family might be the best choice for him. Aye, love and nurturing will make him braver and more willing to embrace his hidden fears, right? Looking forward to Daddy Oh and Do-hyun’s relationship!
Woah, you’re fast! :O Where did ya watch it? Found it on viki but the subs were half-subs or something o.O So i stopped watching -.- I’m placing a “like” ahead of time, meaning that during Thursday i’ll be able to watch the 3rd episode and finally read your article!
Got the torrent and watched it earlier because I have something to do this morning 😀 Good to hear that it’s being subbed already at viki! ^^v
You were a raw warrior? :O I understand a few things without subs, but these half-subs killed me >.<
I can understand basic conversation and phrases but not that good yet..so online dictionaries to the rescue! Hehehe~ Better wait for subs to spare you from frustration!
Oh-some :O I wanted to say daebak, but “Oh” wouldn’t be somewhere 😛 Will the 3rd episode make me more nuts about the drama? I watched up to the point when the bathroom jacket guy was talking to Oh Ri On 😛
Hmmm episode 3 focuses on Ri-jin and Do-hyun so you might end up swooning for them. Well, I am a hopeless romantic so that can’t be helped 😀 Episode 4 looks like it will be alters-centric, so it will be more exciting!
I’m still recovering from the effect of the OTP >.<
Niiiiice! I think i will follow your lovesteps 😀 OTP effect!! That’s good, one couple episode and then with personalities!!! If one drama deserves the term variety, then KMHM deserves it totally with the alters 😀 I think i’m going nuts too, i rarely talk about an ep i haven’t seen yet and i’m already commenting on a recap i haven’t read either XD
Right?! I was so excited yesterday and even live streamed the episode actually XD
Now that’s the real KMHM passion, i’m proud of you chingu 😀

Hi muchadoboutlove!
TQ so much for your fast recap! We’re here from Soompi forum did a live recap but there’s a lot of ‘hole’ and ‘gap’ in those recap coz of the lagging factor and lack of understanding in korean language.. But somehow, your fast recap helps us to fill the gap while waiting for the full sub!!
We hope to read your recap on episode 4 tonight!! ^^
I’m happy that you guys (and girls) find it helpful ^^ I’ll try my best for episode 4 tonight 😉
thanx for the fast & furious recap!! OMG i’m so in love with this OTP!!!
You’ve done a wonderful job! Thanks for the recap!!! 🙂
Thank you again fast recap
Sorry for my upcoming disjointed comment, I do have one for some of the ‘notable’ lines on your recap lol.
I am seriously getting confused with all this family ties lol. Or maybe it’s because I wasn’t really able to follow the family tree from the start. I have to find their family tree soon!
Thanks again for the wonderful recap! Heading now to episode 4 recaps hehehe.
You don’t have to be sorry! I’m here to spazz with you (^o^)/
LOL I was confused too although I have read the character description. The family ties might be one of the major secrets in this drama!
