Kill Me, Heal Me – Episode 6

It feels like we are still in the introduction part, probably because of Do-hyun’s many alters and the time it takes for us to be introduced to all of them will undeniably be longer than the usual span for a normal drama to present its leading man. Besides getting to know the alters, the changes early into the series help us to see into Do-hyun’s real self beneath his kind and reserved exterior. He is not a normal rich man to begin with, but that does not mean he is any less entertaining and intriguing. The hero himself has so many layers to his own character and it makes this drama even better, with a dash of secrets and mysteries in between the changing personalities.

Do-hyun stared into Ri-jin’s eyes, suggesting that they tried to resolve her problem of getting confused between Se-gi and him. The solution? Do-hyun leaned closer, ready to kiss the lady in front of him. I thought that he was just teasing her but no, he moved closer and closer, as Ri-jin closed her eyes and waiting with puckered lips…before Do-hyun coughed out loudly, thanks to his racing heart which made him breathless. That was enough to make Ri-jin grab his collar in anger, demanding why he had to stop halfway. LOL what a way to piss off a girl! He apologized and admitted that he couldn’t really confirm his own heart, since it was something the other alters used too. Hahaha! Ri-jin stated that her heart only belonged to the one and only herself, so she was determined to confirm her feelings by trying to kiss Do-hyun. They stumbled and fell onto the floor, with Ri-jin being on top of Do-hyun.

Of course, Ri-on arrived at that time to rescue them, only to witness the pair in an intimate position. He slumped onto the stairs and screamed for his mother as the pair scrambled around and tried to act like nothing happened. No, the jacket won’t be able to hide your face, Do-hyun.

Do-hyun ended up being given lots (LOTS!) of food and side dishes to be brought home and the Oh family bid him goodbye, although Ri-on kept giving him sideway glance, probably still affected by what he saw earlier. Ri-jin could only hide her face behind her hair and Do-hyun only looked at her without saying anything. The family wiped off the smiled they had on their faces after Do-hyun left and they chided Ri-jin for trying to make a move so early at someone she just met. So the whole family thought that it was her doing, trapping Do-hyun in the room and seizing the moment for them to be alone! She was so wronged this time, but no one listened to this poor lady.

The other responsible party that was Do-hyun couldn’t stop thinking about what he had done and Ri-jin was explaining everything to the family dog, Rina. She asked the dog what she should do and hugged the dog, which could only whine at her. She’s still drunk methinks. Do-hyun arrived home and smiled at the thought of Ri-jin’s words, saying that he kept appearing on her mind. He collected himself but Se-gi appeared shortly afterwards, clearly furious at Do-hyun. The finger taps are back!

Do-hyun woke up in his own bed safe and sound, but the same thing couldn’t be said about his house. The place was messy and wrecked, complete with a message on his bedroom wall: KILL YOU. The culprit showed himself on the screen as Se-gi had recorded a message specially for Do-hyun. He made all the mess to get back at Do-hyun, who dared to use the happiest moment of his life to meet his girl and even kissed her. Se-gi made it clear that he was serious this time, threatening to harm Chae-yeon if Do-hyun tried to touch Ri-jin again.

Goddess Chae-yeon was sleeping soundly when her phone rang but she didn’t pick it up. Ki-joon, who was lying beside her, answered the call after knowing that it was Do-hyun. He was curious about why Do-hyun was so keen on finding out whether Chae-yeon was safe or not, to the point of asking whether Ki-joon was with her the night before. Ki-joon thought that his cousin was drunk but found it interesting that Do-hyun continued to insist on having him beside Chae-yeon all the time to protect her.

Knowing that nothing had happened outside the house on the night before and Chae-yeon was safe for the time being, Do-hyun was relieved but Se-gi could read his mind, laughing at his too predictable actions. Se-gi suggested for him to remember his warning if he didn’t want to turn his own life into a living hell. That made Do-hyun lose his temper and the good boy ripped off the display out of anger. Nice one, Do-hyun! He made the decision to try and gamble on his own life instead of doing nothing after realizing that everything would only continue to be worse.

Ri-jin was tossing and turning (and jumping) on the bed, embarrassed about what happened between her and Do-hyun. Someone with the caller ID ‘Take a deep breath before answering this call’ called her and it turned out to be Dr. Park, who urged her to be at the hospital at once. She was given a case to be taken care of, involving a client recommended by the hospital president himself. Ri-jin had to sign an agreement to keep everything confidential and she was taken aback to see that the client’s name was Shin Se-gi. Uh-oh! She failed to persuade Dr. Park and ended up being sent to the client’s home. She saw Se-gi’s flaming red car in front of the house and thought of running away, but she gave in after recalling Dr. Seok’s word that her avoiding Se-gi could make it worse.

Kill.Me.Heal.Me.E06.150122.HDTV.H264.450p-LIMO.avi_001234714 Kill.Me.Heal.Me.E06.150122.HDTV.H264.450p-LIMO.avi_001333329

The house was in a mess and Ri-jin didn’t wait for too long to ask whether it was his doing, after seeing Se-gi in front of her. She wondered what made him call her to his house, using his VVIP status and such: was he going to ask her to choose between him and Do-hyun, or to put Do-hyun to sleep forever? It was actually Do-hyun who called her, and he realized that Se-gi did make such request to her. He was testing her by using Se-gi’s name: whether she would avoid him after hearing his warning, or still come to meet Se-gi and ignore his warning. Do-hyun concluded that Ri-jin and Se-gi were closer than what he thought initially, hence it was a possibility for Ri-jin to follow Se-gi’s request to get rid of Do-hyun forever.

He thought of making Ri-jin side with him by making the same request as Se-gi, that was for Ri-jin to become his secret physician. Although Ri-jin was not a expert yet, especially for DID cases, Do-hyun thought that she was the most suitable person to become his doctor. Why? Because he wanted Ri-jin to persuade Se-gi into assuring his safety for the next three months. He was planning to go back to the US after that to undergo proper treatment but for now, he wanted for Ri-jin to stay by his side to control Se-gi and Do-hyun won’t refuse it if Ri-jin could make Se-gi disappear forever in that time frame. He wouldn’t take no as an answer and used his influence to turn Ri-jin into a jobless lady through a phone call. Well, he’s indeed a chaebol there, exercising his power to change one’s fate!

Ri-jin walked out in a huff and Chae-yeon, who was there to meet Do-hyun, saw her in front of Do-hyun’s house and thought that the lady was his girlfriend. Do-hyun recalled his encounters with Ri-jin so far and corrected Secretary Ahn: instead of using Se-gi’s woman to get rid of that guy, he intended to control the guy first. It would be safer to have Ri-jin beside him rather than having Se-gi trying to find her. He intended to protect both Chae-yeon and Ri-jin by making the latter as his personal doctor. The conversation was cut short when Chae-yeon called Do-hyun, threatening to have the security guard open the door to his house if he refused to come out.

They ended up at a cafe for their confrontation session, with Chae-yeon curious about how Do-hyun found out about her engagement with Ki-joon. She said that he had the reason to be affected since she was his first love, but Do-hyun threw her words back at her: even when she knew about his crush, she pretended not to know, which made her appear as a scary person to him. He admitted that he had a crush on her, but he had already gotten over it after realizing that Chae-yeon liked Ki-joon. Although she knew that he had not gotten over her yet, Do-hyun put on his cold face and told her off, reminding her that it wasn’t fun anymore to be caught in her games.

Kill.Me.Heal.Me.E06.150122.HDTV.H264.450p-LIMO.avi_001732328

He challenged her to dump Ki-joon and come to him if she had the guts to do so, and that she should refrain from showing herself as a woman in front of him. I like cool Do-hyun, although it was just an act to push Chae-yeon away from the danger around him.

Ri-jin met Dr. Seok to complain about her current condition and it turned out that she was given a three-month leave instead of being fired. She found it unfair that her career was jeopardized just because of a phone call from a young guy and wondered if Do-hyun was the President’s son or a 2nd gen chaebol. Dr. Seok corrected her, explaining that Do-hyun was actually a 3rd gen chaebol and he was Seungjin Group’s heir. It was a coincidence that the group also had some share in their hospital, so basically Ri-jin couldn’t really escape the offer. But then, Dr. Seok gave her another option that was to go to John Hopkins University while she was on leave, so that even when Se-gi wanted to find her, Ri-jin would be too far away.

Although Dr. Seok provided her an opening to escape Do-hyun’s request, he told Ri-jin not to hate the good guy too much. Do-hyun had to take such a selfish decision to protect himself but deep down, it was also to protect people around him. It was as if Ri-on was creating the scenario, as his writing described what Ri-jin and Do-hyun were experiencing at that moment. There was indeed an invisible Pandora’s box in front of Ri-jin and Do-hyun, filled with memories that were waiting to be discovered and remembered.

Ki-joon’s mother was still uneasy about the rumour of the late President Min’s child and wondered if the child could end up as Ki-joon’s rival in the succession battle for Seungjin. Ki-joon’s father thought that they had to bring the child onto their side first or if the situation called for it, they might have to find the missing child before anyone else.

It’s morning and Ri-on decided to take a break from writing, looking out of the window to get some fresh air. A faceless figure zoomed across the lawn and Ri-on was spooked, thinking that it might be one of the ghosts he made from killing the characters in his novel. He headed to the bathroom and noticed the figure walking behind him and he was suddenly approached by the faceless ghost! Except that it was only Ri-jin with a disheveled hair and deep in thought, who just returned home from a walk outside in her pajamas. Hehehehe! Ri-on is a master when it comes to making faces!

Kill.Me.Heal.Me.E06.150122.HDTV.H264.450p-LIMO.avi_002257265 Kill.Me.Heal.Me.E06.150122.HDTV.H264.450p-LIMO.avi_002304304

Oh family sat around the table for breakfast and they learned about Ri-jin’s offer to go to John Hopkins for six months. That was not the only offer she received as she also got an offer to conduct a personal treatment for a chaebol, but she couldn’t make her mind to choose one. She asked for her family’s opinion and they all left the final decision to be made by Ri-jin herself. Still, we got to see who preferred which choice: Mama Ji wished that Ri-jin would choose the chaebol while Daddy Oh liked the John Hopkins option. Ri-jin thought that Ri-on was also going to persuade her but nope, he only wanted to walk the dog with her. Pwahahaha!

Ri-on tried to find out more about the chaebol but Ri-jin didn’t want to disclose any information about the patient. He thought that the old chaebol only wanted to have a friend based on the sick guy’s condition. Although Ri-on was a writer, he was well aware that the sickness involving one’s inner self required lots of support from people around that person, and that person would need his family, friends, and his loved ones to stay beside him. It might be that the person had to one beside him at that moment, so that resulted in all the fuss in making Ri-jin the personal doctor. Ri-on’s words hit home since Do-hyun was exactly that, but his sympathetic opinion couldn’t be compared with Ri-jin’s take as a person working in the field. No matter what Ri-jin ended up doing, Ri-on would support her and he offered to help her run away should her choice turned out to be wrong. Can I have an older brother like him too?

It is a small world after all as Ri-on was actually working with ID Ent. under his pseudonym Omega. Ki-joon was informed that the writer was a mysterious figure and seeing a chance in his plan, he entrusted the task of finding Omega to Do-hyun. They argued back and forth but in the end, Ki-joon won. Ki-joon maintained his friendly facade outside the meeting room but he surely knew something was going on between Do-hyun and Dr. Seok; he suggested for their company to ask for Kanghan Hospital’s help in their project, mentioning Dr. Seok’s name just to see Do-hyun’s reaction. Poor Do-hyun grew nervous but he had to control himself as Chairman Seo was waiting for him. The chairman wanted to arrange a marriage for Do-hyun to make their position more stable, but Do-hyun told her about his plan to go back to the US. She suspected that he was hiding another woman there and warned him not to bring shame on their family; Madam Shin was enough of a disgrace to them.

The mistress was busy getting drunk in the house while the housekeeper was trying to stop her. Madam Shin insisted on hoarding the wine bottles in the cellar and she noticed the teddy bear Do-hyun hugged the last time he was there. She sent the housekeeper outside and approached the bear, before noticing the drawing made by Nana. She wondered if Do-hyun could remember that ‘child’. Do-hyun was still at the office and he had to take a short break since his headache wasn’t getting any better. Madam Shin then cleaned up the drawing while pleading for Do-hyun not to be shaken by the memories of that ‘child’.

Do-hyun took a nap in the private room but he was disturbed by too many things inside his mind, from Se-gi’s stinging words to Chairman Seo’s reminder for him to protect the company. He was brought again to the dark room with the broken toys in his dream but this time, Ri-jin joined the little Do-hyun. She told him about her fear of the basement but she’s not afraid anymore as he was there with her. Her question asking his name echoed in his head and Do-hyun woke up (with green eyes!), but he didn’t seem like the usual Do-hyun we know…

Kill.Me.Heal.Me.E06.150122.HDTV.H264.450p-LIMO.avi_003394314

Ri-jin chose John Hopkins since she needed to learn more and on her way to the hospital, she gave a call to Do-hyun. She called to bid him goodbye as she’s going for her training overseas, and it was partly because of him. Although she didn’t end up as his doctor or his friend, her encounter with his was not a bad thing after all. She thanked him for helping her and wished him all the best for his health. She called his name after realizing that he didn’t say a word and then, the familiar voice of Do-hyun but with a different feel to it answered her.

The voice said that Ri-jin was leaving Do-hyun and Do-hyun ended up being dumped by her. He introduced himself: Ahn Yo-sub, a 17-year old boy with the alias ‘suicide candidate’, coined by Dr. Seok. He liked that name and explained to Ri-jin that he was leaving his dying message, as he had no reason to live. He was thinking of bringing the rest of alters with him into death and had this distant look in his eyes as he told Ri-jin that the sky would be his graveyard. Ri-jin tried to talk some sense into him and offered to go to him, but Yo-sub gave her one hour to find it, or they would all disappear together with him.

Yo-sub painted a large grafitti of the alters on a rooftop together with the message KILL ME before standing on the wall, overlooking the stretched highway in front of him. That kid was really fearless! He held her arms out and let the wind pushed his body down…

[END of Episode 6]

I won’t be surprised if this drama turned out to be the plot of Ri-on’s novel, entitled ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’. The idea of having Ri-on as the narrator doesn’t sound too far-fetched, because I can see how this drama is written by him: a mystery novel with a dash of comedy and heart. Although Korean news have started to suspect that Ri-on might be Do-hyun’s stepbrother, I am still thinking that Ri-jin is the missing child. But then, the whole possibility of power struggle between the child and Do-hyun/Ki-joon can happen, IF the child is indeed President Min and Jun-pyo’s child, but it will also complicate things between Do-hyun and the child. Gaaaah it will be crazy if Ri-jin and Do-hyun think that they’re step siblings at one point. Imagine the angst! It doesn’t make it any better if Ri-on is the child, as it will only mean more hurdles for Do-hyun. Oh, please spare this poor man’s heart! As if he doesn’t have enough problems already!

Kill.Me.Heal.Me.E06.150122.HDTV.H264.450p-LIMO.avi_001957423

Ri-on’s long speech describing the lonely Do-hyun makes my wish to see them become friends even stronger. He understands the pain and he might be able to connect with Do-hyun despite having no medical background regarding his illness. They also have some similarities and they can be real  friends! Ri-on can also make Do-hyun as his ‘muse’ for his novel, watching how the disorder affect the man’s life while giving the support he needs. That also means more chances for Do-hyun to be involved with Oh Family! I am looking forward to more of his interactions with the parents, as Daddy Oh and Mama Ji are perfect for being Do-hyun’s surrogate parents. It will be funnier if they, too, know about Do-hyun’s alters and meet them once in a while!

We have only seen three alters so far and it’s safe to deduce that the change will occur each time Do-hyun’s feelings grow intense or reach the extreme level. If he feels harmed, Se-gi will take over and protect him from the pain. If he feels excited, Ferry Park will be in charge of letting him enjoy the best of his life. When he feels cornered or depressed, Yo-sub is there to deal with the feelings by escape through suicide. Do-hyun is the optimum condition and he will regain control over his body when everything becomes normal again. But then, the co-conscious personality has grown stronger and Se-gi can easily appear when the alter itself feels harmed. Not sure how the rest of the alters will make their appearance but that will be worth the wait.

Care to make any guess? Will Yo-na be his another means of escapism? Nana when he feels the need to protect himself? X is the most mysterious personality, as nothing is known about him so far, except that he wears a mask and loves wine. It can’t be denied that no matter how lovable the alters are, each of them represent the extremes of Do-hyun’s characteristics. This is probably because Do-hyun lives his life in the safe zone, behaving obediently and following his family’s orders without much resistance, while locking his emotions deep inside him. Thus, seeing the expressive Do-hyun is much welcomed, because that shows his more humane side. I am team Do-hyun!

  1. I love you right now. My uncontrollable feelings can’t take it. Here I am watching it without subs and here you are providing me with a gift from the heavens… thank you.

    1. omygad how am I suppose to wait till next Wednesday? this show is killing me! oh wait that’s the title. so they’re being literal. not funny. stop rant here. must control myself.

  2. One thing that’s making me think is that possibly the child that President Min has was also Chairman Cha’s kid too?
That would also make him/her rival DoHyun and KiJoon as the heir, just as KiJoon’s mother was worrying, since she said something about power struggles and stuff.
Isn’t that what drama is implying kinda?
If that was the case, the grandmother probably would hate President Min’s kid, too.
And if RiOn was the son, then it would truly be a RiOn vs DoHyun, as RiOn is the second lead (or is he?).
But RiJin as the missing kid makes kinda sense too, since they are seeing each other in the dreams, and the dreams reflect their childhood.
And DoHyun is supposed to remember the missing child from his childhood.
But if the missing child was found, and the late Chairman Cha was not his/her father, would a dead man favoring his/her mother have enough influence to have any sort of power?
Even if his/her mother was the president, presidency cannot be inherited.
And unless there is a will, specifically entitling stocks to that child, there is nothing the child, or anyone else for that matter, can do for a change in the power struggle.

On the other hand, when ChaeYeon told DoHyun that she was his first love, I kinda laughed to myself. I mean, by now we probably know who DoHyun’s real first love was, right?

    1. Yeah, the possibility is there, and it makes sense if the child was initially hidden from the grandma and lived in the underground room. But then, the grandma found out and the fire happened. Ummm coincidence much? I bet grandma planned to the car accident to get rid of the rivals for her son Jun-pyo (Do-hyun’s father), because her husband favoured President Min over his own son. The inheritance issue can be brought up even if the child was President Min’s with someone else, because there was surely a big chunk of inheritance under President Min’s name. The child can be made into a threat for Chairman Seo, if Ki-joon’s father can get hold of the evidence that the chairman killed her own husband and daughter-in-law.

LOL serves her right! Who told her to just wait without doing something? Now he’s going to discover and realize that he loved somebody else before Chae-yeon! I bet she will be even more annoyed that Ri-jin is also Do-hyun’s real first love 😀

  3. Thank you for the recap.
I have two qs. Kijun and Chaeyun’s engagement is still a secret? Is the granny aiming to announce Dohyun’s engagement first to improve the image of Sungjin?

    1. I think that’s the case for now. The family knows but not the public. Hence, Chairman Seo is trying to pair up Do-hyun too and announce his engagement before Ki-joon does so. It really resembles Joseon with all the political marriages 😀

  4. I was also curious as to how the discovery of Min’s child a possible problem to all these family politics but I read the comments and yeah, there must be an arrangement somewhere that says the child will have rights or something. That child will just add more problems huh lol. I just hope they spare us with the angst of possible step-siblings between Do Hyun and Ri Jin.

I just wonder, they kinda implied before that Ri On is the true Oh child right? But now we’re getting ideas that Ri On might be Min’s child. Maybe the Oh’s are also tangled up with all these Cha family history. What if they’re like old workers from the Cha household? Okay I’m enjoying making assumptions and will have to wait for few more days to watch the upcoming episodes. Waaaah.

Thanks again for the wonderful recaps 😀

    1. What if they’re like old workers from the Cha household?

That can be a possible theory too! Ki-joon’s parents did mention that Chairman Seo replaced all the staff working at the family residence after the fire, so that might be a clue too. Plus, Daddy Oh is a man who likes to help others, so he might have saved the child! Hehe I hope they don’t really go crazy regarding the inheritance issue and turn this drama into a story of fighting chaebols 😮 But the angst….oh, the angst!

Now that Do-hyun plans to stay in the country for three months and then go back to the US to undergo proper treatment, I hope the drama ends with both him and Ri-jin leaving the country. Too early to talk about the ending but I can’t help it! DX

      1. I don’t know but I actually thought that maybe Ri On is a true Oh child…but his mother is Min hahaha. All these complications! I’m really having fun with all these theories.

About that ending: it fits that there is a possibility of Ri Jin studying at John Hopkins right? That would be fine with me, and we really are early into thinking all these things hahaha.

        1. Waittttt don’t make me have another moment of brewing theories in my head! Haaaaa~ It’s not only us; others have also imagined their version of endings lol
