Looks like my heart couldn’t get enough of the spazzing on twitter last night that I need to watch the awards and squee about it again. Although Empress Ki was pre-empted this week to give way to MBC’s award ceremonies, namely MBC Drama Awards and MBC Gayo Daejun, there’s still a silver lining for both us viewers and the cast: we get to see them on the award ceremony while the cast can get some rest for a while. Sometimes they look so tired from the continuous filming that I wish to tuck everyone in bed for a week straight. Even the make ups can’t hide their dark circles and eye bags from the lack of sleep.
The leads of Empress Ki: Ha Ji-won, Joo Jin-mo, Ji Chang-wook, and Baek Jin-hee, all attended the MBC Drama Awards yesterday and only Joo Jin-mo didn’t walk down the red carpet before the ceremony begun.

Joo Jin-mo was there sitting beside Ha Ji-won (maybe he just ran inside? Hehehe) and our Empress Ki was sandwiched in between the Emperor and the King. Who’s the happy person? Me! Me! Me!
Baek Jin-hee was beside her Emperor all the time! Hehehe.
Maknae Baek Jin-hee got the Female Newcomer Award for her appearance in I Summon You, Gold! and Empress Ki. It’s so adorable when she mentioned the other leads (“Jin-mo oppa, Ji-won unnie, Chang-wook oppa”) in her acceptance speech!
Empress Ki’s writers, Jang Young-chul and Jung Kyung-soon, won the Writer of the Year Award. That’s the first award for our lovely drama!
Ha Ji-won went up to the stage for Actor of the Year Award, an award for an actor chosen by the producers from the Big Three broadcasters (SBS, KBS, MBC). Yeay! She deserved it!
Next, Ha Ji-won won the Popularity Award! She got her wish granted 😀
They even interviewed the cast, who were sitting on the front row~ Ha Ji-won wished to win the Best Couple Awards with both men since Seung-nyang couldn’t choose one between them: Wang Yoo was the man she wanted to lean on and Ta-hwan was a man that she would want to hug. Joo Jin-mo was asked if he was to be a couple with Ji Chang-wook, in which he replied that he already did that once in his movie A Frozen Flower and he didn’t feel like doing it again. LOL
Unfortunately, our couples didn’t win the Best Couple Award. Maybe people were torn in between TaNyang and WangNyang…or MBC didn’t want to pick one. Haha!
Ah, Joo Jin-mo even got a rose from the performing lady, actress Park Hae-mi. Kekeke
As for the random awards, aka the just for fun awards, Ji Chang-wook got one thanks to his portrayal of Ta-hwan’s (adorably) immature character and Ha Ji-won’s Seung-nyang was one of the characters that underwent most difficulties. Hahaha, very true!
Getting back to the real awards with trophies and flowers, Ji Chang-wook received the Male Excellence Award for Special Production Drama! Baby Emperor won! He truly deserved it! He wished that the filming would continue without any accident until the end.
Ha Ji-won introduced Empress Ki to the people. She said that th drama still had a lot of things in store and the team behind it is working hard despite the cold weather. Han Ji-hye even wished that she could have two men vying for her attention too and remarked that Joo Jin-mo had charisma in his eyes while Ji Chang-wook was stealing hearts with his Ta-hwan’s aegyo.
Ji Chang-wook disappeared for a while and he’s back on the stage together with Baek Jin-hee to present the Top Excellence Awards for Mini Series. They came from the faraway Yuan land! Hehehe. Weren’t they adorable?! These two made a very short conversation about their Emperor and Empress characters and Ji Chang-wook even switched into his Emperor mode. Hehehe. My precious alternate couple!
Joo Jin-mo was the only one among them who hadn’t win anything (and I was super nervous!) but after that, he got the Male Top Excellence Award for Special Production Drama! He thought that he was supposed to win the Newcomer Award since this is his first time acting in an MBC drama, instead he got a big award (LOL). He even mentioned that he would protect Seung-nyang until the end. WangNyang shippers must be happy!
For the Daesang/ Grand Prize, Ha Ji-won was one of the contenders….and SHE WON. WOW. So happy for her, our amazing Empress!!! She deserved it and it’s her second Daesang after the first one she got from KBS in 2006 for the drama Hwang Jin-yi. Ahhh even Ji Chang-wook and Joo Jin-mo held her hands to congratulate her! Lucky lucky! Hihihi~
But then, Ha Ji-won, Ji Chang-wook and Joo Jin-mo talked about accidents…I wonder if there were some of the staff who got involved with accident due to the weather. Hopefully there weren’t and hoping that the team would be safe and healthy until the end!

Goshy!!! my heart, my heart! They deserved to win… As a fan of Empress Ki and of course my favorite trio. Wang Yoo, Seung Nyang and Baby Emperor 🙂 Though I find it strange that they included those currently running shows for this awards night. But nonetheless, I am happy for them… It’s just the other side of me telling that if they exclude EK, Seung Gi will definitely bag the Daesang Award. Oh well, I’m not complaining that Ha Ji Won got the award. She deserved to win! It’s just a thought! A pure thought! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

I adore every time someone mentions a King/Emperor ship just because it brings up A Frozen Flower. In one of the BTS, the one where they were filming the shadow-play scene, someone made a joke about them being together and Jin Mo and Chang Wook pressed their palms together as Jin Mo sang the song from A Frozen Flower. I swear, in addition to this drama, the references kill me every time.

Congratulations to all the winners and most of all HJW.You never disappoint us.I’m so thrilled to see LSG and HJW. They should have won last year.What a reuinion. I love our baby emperor.I’m beginning to really admire his portrayal of immature emperor.I hope that there’s a silver lining for him.I really want her to be with SY.I like JJM but somehow I’m liking his character more because of the way he’s portraying the character.I thought I loved HB character in SG, then LSG in K2H but liking the baby emperor even more.I feel very sad when I see the jealousy in his eyes and I’m somewhat irritated with SY and JJM. It only shows that he’s really doing justice to the character.Someone said that he seems to eclipsed JJM and what a surprise I tend to agree. I just hope that his character will progress to maturity and the Empress will learn to love him..

Because Ha Ji Won is my favorite actress who never disappoints, I will now check out the leading men and their other dramas. Together the chemistry between them is so real. They will definitely win more awards and more hearts with their acting.
what I meant is I never saw the other actors before. They are intensely talented but I believe that Ha Ji Won encourages these actors who are good, become even better when they act with her. Oh the power and charisma of Ha Ji Won!
