Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace: E01 – E08

The wait is over and boy, am I glad the drama is finally out of the dungeon! I was looking forward to the drama since the day it was announced, and the names attached to the series day by day only makes my anticipation grew. Although it took two years and a half for it to finally see the light (aka us the viewers), Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace (如懿传, lit, Legend of Ruyi) arrives at the right time as I am craving for some harem drama, and I count this as my luck :’) As I have been away from blogging for quite some time, these posts will be my personal notes to keep track of the things happening in each episode for future references, should I feel the urge to rewatch certain scenes. So…dig in!

The First Half of My Life: Learning Process

I’ve been wanting to watch this cdrama for a while now, but I finally pushed it up the list and finished it 🙂 Jin Dong, together with a whole group of experienced casts, what’s not to love? And I must say that I’m sooo glad I placed my priorities well – frankly I didn’t expect myself to like it, but the moment you get into it you kind of see the thought they put into producing this through the scenes, lines and lyrics. Overall, I feel that a group of inexperienced actors wouldn’t have been able to pull this off; kudos to the casting director for this because they are just so good. Wow. All of them gave impressive performances which made them feel like real human beings and not mere characters.

2016: Closing Remarks

I know, there is literally only 3 months left to 2017 – at this point a post for 2016 seems pointless, hah. As unbelievable as it sounds, this post has been in the works for the longest time, just that it never made its way to the ‘publish’ mode. I was actually contemplating to forget about it for good, but in the end I decided to put it up regardless of how late it turns out (I apologize).

2015: One in a million

It’s already April (time really flies), and I thought I should sum up my 2015 with dramaland. My apologies for it coming so very late, but here’s the list of last year’s dramas I’ve completed and some thoughts about them. As usual, Korea has lots of titles to offer each year but abundance also means that really good dramas can be hard to come by. It’s almost a one in a million chance for us to find a show that can fully blow us away! However, that is also why I continue to be a drama fan even as time passes: because there are gems not to be missed 🙂 The drama choices we have seem never-ending now that there are cable networks (compared to just the Big 3 back then). Furthermore, 2015 is also the year I discovered some great shows outside kdramas!

2015 in Retrospect

Well, it’s the last day of February, and it is special because we get one extra day this month thanks to the leap year! I think it’s about time for me to have a proper post to say goodbye to 2015. It’s late (I know, I know), but I can’t seem to sit back and write coherent sentences about the dramas I watched last year. Maybe because I don’t really finish that many dramas? That, and my attention span that is getting even shorter year by year. So, expect lots of rants and ramblings in this post while I reminisce about the dramas that made me experience a roller coaster of emotions over the year of 2015.

(Re)discovering Cdramas

Yup, you read that right. I’m not really sure what brought upon the sudden decision to watch a Chinese drama again after more than ten years, but I blame it on the nostalgic feeling I have these days. I have to be grateful that a great drama is the one bringing me back into the wonderful world of Cdramas, and it is no other than Nirvana in Fire/ Lang Ya Bang! Just when I think I’m going to wait until I finish watching Nirvana in Fire before embarking on another drama, I made a mistake of clicking on Love Me, If You Dare/ Ta Lai Le Qing Bi Yan‘s banner on Viki. Oh, no…
