I know that this is late (to be exact, it has been sitting in my draft for a month!) but here it is, at last, the translation for Lee Je-hoon’s short interview with L’Officiel HOMMES December issue. It has been quite an eventful year for our beloved actor, with his successful drama comeback through Signal earlier this year and his movie Phantom Detective in May. He took his time choosing his next projects and settled with drama Tomorrow with You (that will meet us in February) and movie Park Yeol. Well, enjoy the interview… and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I can’t wait for 2017 and more of Lee Je-hoon next year!
Marriage can be regarded as one of the most important events in our lives. It is not simply the union of two people but actually symbolizes the union of the two families of the bride and groom. Thus, the wedding that is the beginning of the holy matrimony is treated with respect and care across all cultures through the ages of human civilization. The practice of traditional marriage rituals and customs still continue to this day despite the tendency for younger couples to opt for modern wedding ceremonies. This time, I will try my best to highlight the traditional wedding ceremony of Korea, focusing on Joseon’s Confucian practice with regard to the ceremony and the marriage institution as well.
Winter is approaching; we’re coming to the end of 2016 and once again, there are lots of dramas in store for us. With shows of various premises coming up this month and the next, it’s going to be two months filled with romance, comedy and melo. Most of the October dramas are airing starting next week, while the November premieres are scattered throughout the month. Are you excited? Let’s look into the choices! [Updated]
These two are back together but not as Chul and Yeon-joo; instead, Lee Jong-suk and Han Hyo-joo pair up for an up close and personal couple pictorial for Dazed and Confused Korea. It’s a rare occurrence to have leads for a drama to be reunited in a photo shoot after the drama has ended its run, but I guess their chemistry in W was too good to be missed. Well, Dazed totally did a good job because they look so stunning, and I hope that the magazine will release more shots from this pictorial!
Lee Jun-ki is stealing the hearts of many with his currently-airing drama Moon Lovers (Scarlet Heart: Ryeo) where he stars as the 4th Prince Wang So. His performance is certainly commendable given how deftly he portrays So’s character and emotions, along with the great chemistry he has with leading lady IU, who plays Hae-soo. I am just so happy to see him on screen again after a year! 😄 That being said, Moon Lovers is also reaching its end quite soon and I am pretty sure that he’ll be missed. However, that is not the main point here – the actor graces the November pages of fashion magazine Singles and I love the pictorial’s simplicity! He also posted some of the pictures on his Instagram account 🙂
Lee Jong-suk has been featured on a steady stream of magazines prior to and following his latest drama W- Two Worlds; L’Officiel Hommes is just one of them to showcase the model-turned-actor in another stylish pictorial 🙂 The actor made a cameo on mini drama Gogh, The Starry Night starring Kim Young-kwang, Lee Ji-hoon(1988) and Kwon Yuri as the leads. I am currently in the midst of watching this – I think it’s a fun watch, and subtly sheds light on some issues in the workplace. The drama short will air starting this weekend on SBS for four episodes, following the conclusion of Second to Last Love. He will also be making a guest appearance on upcoming drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo in support of his label-mates Lee Sung-kyung and Nam Joo-hyuk. Check out the pictures!
I cannot believe that it is already October – another year is coming to an end and sometimes I don’t even realise it. As with the time, dramas come and go at great speed. It feels like Moon Lovers (or Scarlet Heart: Ryeo) just aired yesterday, but we have gone beyond the drama’s half-mark. Some of the acting performances from the ensemble cast are one of the best and this brings me to the star of our feature, Hong Jong-hyun who plays 3rd Prince Wang Yo, the main antagonist of the show. I think I have newfound appreciation for the actor because his portrayal of the villainous character has been quite impressive – he has this strong presence that I feel whenever he is in front of his brothers. I’m sure they feel it too, especially the younger ones.
It is great that actor Kim Rae-won has been garnering more attention since his return to dramaland for legal thriller Punch at the end of 2014. The previous drama project he did before that was A Thousand Days’ Promise in 2011. He received a Producer Award at last year’s drama awards for his portrayal of Prosecutor Park Jung-hwan (Cheers! 😄 ) This year, he graced the small screen for medical romance drama Doctors – anyone misses Hong Hong Hong and his charms? After wrapping up the project, he took to LA to shoot for a feature in Marie Claire’s October issue! I am so glad he is getting featured more on the fashion magazines ❤
Sometimes, we face difficulties in defining the simplest of terms because it either covers an overly broad range of areas that it is hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, or it could perhaps be due to the fact that we have never really stopped to think about what it actually means. This gives rise to different interpretations of the same term whenever we are asked. We then begin ask ourselves, can a single thing shape the meaning of a word; or are there multiple aspects which define it? And it brings me to the magic word of this post – adulthood. What does it mean exactly? With that, I will weigh in on the drama revolving around this: it is none other than Second to Last Love, SBS’ latest prime-time weekender on the block.
New romantic melodrama On The Way To The Airport premiered on KBS this Wednesday, starring Lee Sang-yoon in his return to a public broadcaster after his past two dramas on cable television and Kim Ha-neul in her comeback drama since 2012’s A Gentleman’s Dignity. I have not watched the pilot episodes yet, but it sure looks good from the pretty posters and teasers! Singles has gathered the two leads for their October issue in a pictorial titled Steady Love; they are also on the magazine’s cover!
